Dash to the Duomo

Friday. Dash to the Duomo. Our second class period was held in arguably one of the most beautiful places in Italy, if not the world, the Duomo. The primary church of Florence, the Duomo is the guiding north star to all that is good in the city. It is my point of reference as I run from piazza to piazza. It is the home to mass when I wish to practice my faith. It is surrounded by many, many gelaterias. It is something unique in and off itself, as I have never seen such a structure in my life. Duomo is actually a nickname for cathedral, derived from domus (house) and dei (God). This house of God is donated to Saint Mary of the Flower, which is very suiting for Florence, the flowering city.
